A native North Carolinian, Janet was raised in the Piedmont region.  Janet attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill as a James Johnston scholar, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy.  After spending a decade as the Department Manager of Physical Therapy for Chowan Hospital, she relocated to the mountains in 1993 to focus on outpatient treatment of chronic pain and work-related injuries.  Janet received her certification for Functional Capacity Evaluations using the Mattheson protocol in 1994 and became a Certified Functional Evaluator for the Arcon protocol in 2018. Throughout her career Janet has continued to pursue advanced training to remain current in pain management trends; including the McKenzie Spine courses, Saunders Spine courses, Vestibular rehabilitation, and Myofascial Release. Janet enjoys gardening, singing, and hand crafts.  She is also an advocate for dog rescue, fostering dogs and organizing fundraising for the Lynn Fortheanimals Rescue Squad.
